How do the various parts of the GS1 System come together?

Modified on Thu, 22 Aug at 11:25 AM

  • To capture the logistics unit identifier (SSCC), the GS1 Logistics Label provides recommended human readable and barcoded formats.
  • GTINs are encoded in barcodes, and EPC/RFID tags use radio-frequency identification technology to encode the GS1 identification keys – like the GIAI for transport assets and the GRAI for returnable assets – in EPC/RFID tags.
  • GS1 eCom messages for Transport Management, Order to Cash etc., exchanged via EDI in a business transaction between two parties.
  • Trading partners can share real-time information about the physical events in the supply chain using EPCIS based upon the capture of SSCC reads.
  • GDSN provides an environment for secure and continuous synchronisation of accurate product data.
  • This powerful combination of GS1 Standards links trading partners’ business processes with the physical processes for supply chain visibility.
