Who do I need to involve for a GS1 implementation?

Modified on Thu, 22 Aug at 11:49 AM

First you need to narrow down exactly where you will start to implement GS1;
  • which departments,
  • what product groups.
Your GS1 Member Organisation can assist you with this.

To select a starting point, think about the benefits GS1 could bring to your department/speciality/function/process, open discussions with administrators to begin the process of change/transition process.
Ideally you would have people representing different hospital functions involved in your project, but exactly who and how many people varies depending on the project.

In general you’ll need someone from the department itself (end user), clinical representation, logistics, IT, purchasing and sometimes finance. Contact your GS1 Member Organisation for guidance.
GS1 has a global network.  Via this network you can also learn first-hand about different drivers of hospital implementations across the world.
