There are two types of Network Releases: Maintenance Release and Major Release.
A Maintenance Release consists of community-requested changes with little to no impact on the backward compatibility of the network. Maintenance Releases can include but are not limited to: adding new attributes, values, errata, etc.
The next Maintenance Release will be scheduled following the Major Release.
