Yes, as the data encoded in these symbols are defined by GS1’s Application Identifiers.
These barcodes encode the GTIN for the item, and extra information about it, such as its net weight, and expiry date.
If the application can only process the GTIN, the extra data required to complete the identification of these products will be missing.
