Which version of the ISO 4217 (Currency code) list should be used in GS1 XML standards – numeric or alphanumeric?

Modified on Mon, 2 Sep at 7:44 AM

The ISO 4217 is the standard list of codes denoting the names of monetary currencies. The currencies can be represented in two ways: three letter alpha code or three digit numeric code.

For example: Albanian Lek can be represented as ALL or 008
In GS1 XML standard both code representations are allowed. The choice is determined by implementation and should be made by the users, based on their business practice.
