How can I demonstrate ROI to senior management/budget holders? How can I justify the additional staff time and money required to manage transition to GS1 standards?

  • Due to differing country regulations, manufacturers are at different stages of readiness with their application of GS1 barcode standards, at different package levels, in particular, the unit of use/single unit packaging.
  • Therefore, implementing GS1 standards may require initial investment, depending on your organization’s implementation needs. The return on the investment, however, is significant in terms of interoperability, traceability, efficiencies gained, and more importantly, the quality of patient care delivered and the financial savings seen.
  • GS1Member Organisations (MOs) support in building an investment/business case for GS1 implementation, including metrics.
  • GS1 MOs are a rich source of relevant case studies with associated ROI data, and some also can provide implementation costs and savings calculation tools.
