GS1 Digital Link is the standard that defines how to link from an item’s GS1 IDs to one or more online sources of information about it. This is made possible via resolver services that can redirect requests to specific types of related information, such as traceability information, recall status APIs, product information, clinical and patient focused information. It is an extension of the existing GS1 system of Identify, Capture and Share, not a new identification system.
