Is there a standard for representing the Human Readable Dates on products?

Modified on Fri, 30 Aug at 1:51 PM

GS1 does not standardise how human readable dates should be shown on a product, as this has already been done by ISO.  The relevant standard is ISO 8601:2004 Data elements and interchange formats -- Information interchange -- Representation of dates and times.
This standard does not affect the text below a barcode, the human readable interpretation of the data that is being encoded.

When using the GS1 logistic label the data titles from the GS1 General Specifications should be used.

GS1 Member Organisations may also define local language translations for these data titles where necessary.
