No. Globally, GS1 standards could exist by incorporating the basis of joint standards such as ISO and IEC, as e.g. with ISO/IEC 11179 (metadata registries), ISO/IEC 15418 (data identifiers) and ISO/IEC 18000-6C (RFID air interfaces) with user needs.
On the food safety and quality management perspective, GS1 is now a liaison in ISO TC34/SC 17 and SC 18. We have contributed in the traceability requirements for ISO 22000: 2018 and the Handbook on how to implement ISO 22000:2018. In addition, the Global Traceability Programme's checklist uses ISO 22005 as the basis of this document, where the implementation is user driven. In short, our contributions in these various work groups have enabled alignment with other international standards such as ISO, to meet the business needs of users.
