2. Which data carrier to use depends on the application/environmental conditions

3. Direct Part Marking: GS1 DataMatrix

4. Adverse environmental conditions/outdoor area: EPC/RFID (UHF) + GS1 DataMatrix as Backup

5. Protected environment (e.g. behind a hatch): GS1 DataMatrix (GS1-128)


Examples:

a. Bogie: EPC/RFID + GS1 DataMatrix

b. Wheelset: EPC/RFID + GS1 DataMatrix
