What is a two-dimensional barcode?

Modified on Wed, 28 Aug at 7:42 PM

Two-dimensional barcodes encode data in two dimensions, in the patterns of dark and light squares or dots across the width and height of the symbol. The complete symbol must be seen by the reader before it can be decoded.
The three two-dimensional symbols used by the GS1 System are GS1 DataMatrix, GS1 QR Code, GS1 DotCode.
